Functional object - Vaccination stylus set

Historical information

Vaccinostyles were used for vaccination against smallpox. The pointed styles were mounted into a holder, dipped into the vaccine, and injected into the skin. They were single use and were disposed of. Vaccinostyles were particularly popular in France and Belgium and were made by fountain pen makers. Probably used between 1881 and 1920.
