Sign - TAC Sign

Historical information

Australian Army tactical (TAC) signs in Vietnam were unique markings on vehicles identifying units, callsigns, and sometimes unit names. They were crucial for command and control, using shapes and numbers to denote troop, section, and vehicle roles. They were generally metal, painted with the relevant colours and markings. During the Vietnam War, the tactical sign "88" identified the 106th Field Workshop (RAEME - Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) located at the main base in Nui Dat. This object was collect by Corporal W K Folland during his service with RAEME in Vietnam 1968-9.
