Historical information
When lead pipes, traditionally used by plumbers for water and gas, were bent, the lead would often distort. The plumbers bobbins were pushed through the pipe to remove the distortion. The brass bobbin coule be opened to attach a rope which could be pulled through the pipe.
Physical description
Plumber's bobbins - 25 wooden bobbins of various sizes, and one small brass bobbin which has hole through the middle and screws open into two halves. Wood for the bobbins was often chosen for its hardness.
