Mixed media - New Growth, Felicity Gordon, 2022

Artists statement

“New Growth responds to the concept of military camouflage and the covering up of plant species loss due to global warming, human dominance and the disturbance of habitats. It reminds us we cannot ignore the losses occurring in front of our eyes. New Growth is a wish for the future as a tiny, vulnerable Yellow Box Eucalyptus tree reaches for the sun.”

Felicity Gordon focuses on our relationship with the natural world and sustainability. Felicity has been shortlisted for the Murdoch Travelling Scholarship, Yering Station Sculpture Award, The Nillumbik Art Award, Darebin La Trobe Art Award, Moonee Valley Art Award and Banyule Works on Paper. Felicity won the Mildura National Small Works Award in 2019. In 2016 Felicity attended a marathon drawing program at The New York Studio School. In 2019-20 Felicity participated in the FLOAT Residency Program in East Gippsland.

Felicity has a passion for community engagement in the arts and her projects include a multigenerational mural in Main Street Eltham.
