Film, Chelle Destefano, Who does my family think I am??, 2024

Artists statement

Someone thought I was used to my family’s way, but they realised I had been trying to tell them that I wasn’t. Being the only Deaf person in a hearing family, heard but not really nor seen, the silent abuse endured. Crying behind a raining window, sheer white fabric with white text and visual audio lines tells of the silent world I live in and with the song Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny that matches my experience.
