Made approximately 1900 to 1950's. Exercise saddle used in training racehorses.

Significance

This saddle significant because it is the only saddle of this type and age in our collection. Picnic races were common events in rural areas including Orbost.

Physical description

A small leather saddle for a horse, brown leather on top and cream leather underneath . It has a red tartan material insert along the spine. Small leather staps to attach a girth. Saddle has a small white piping on top as decoration.
