Historical information

The blind potter Bill Reid lost his sight in Burma during World War Two. He started working with clay in 1945 at Concord Repatriation Hospital in Sydney. He was still working as a potter in 1983. His bark pots are a distinctive reminder of the Bottle Brush tree bark as he remembers it.

His mark is an incised Bill Reid or Bill Reid QLD. His card is included.

Hand thrown brown glazed jug, with rough textural work at the base.
