Field Trip - Tellurometer traverse, Mount Tozer to Weipa, Far North Queensland 1962.
This set of 2 photographs were taken during a field trip in Far North Queensland by elements of the AHQ (Army) Survey Regiment under the command of Captain “Tommy” Tomlinson RE in 1962. This was a Tellurometer Traverse undertaken to establish 1st order control points between Mount Tozer and Weipa as part of Corps’ commitment to the national Geodetic Survey. This was subsequently used for the development of the port at Weipa to enable the movement of bauxite. This was the last mainland survey by the Regiment. Other personnel identified as being involved was Len Davies.
