The original Briar Hill Timber store was extended down Sherbourne Road in the early 1940s and served as the joinery and machining shop of the Briar Hill Timber and Trading Company. [In 1996, Purdy’s Furniture store, as shown in photo; Purdy's later moved up Sherbourne Road to new premises. In 2025 All Things Safety Wear, a workwear clothing store operates on this site]

Significance

The Briar Hill Timber and Trading Company was active at the time of the development of the local area with many houses being built by owner-builders who used the company for their needs.
