Historical information
A number of pottery manufacturers produced versions of the dished ‘Baby’s Plate’ with nursery rhymes and illustrations. Empire Ware produced nursery plates during the 1910s to 1930s.
The Empire Porcelain Company was established in about 1896 at the Empire Works in Stoke Road, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. A wide range of pottery and porcelain was produced. The various marks include the initials EPC, EP or the word Empire.
Physical description
Oval shaped porcelain baby's porridge bowl. Gold edging worn off around edges. Image of little girl in red and white checked dress and socks with red ribbon in plaited hair. Girl is holding green watering can and is watering 3 small grey cats or dogs.
