Historical information

Dr Bruce Toomba Mayes (1903-1996) was the first full-time Chair of Obstetrics at the University of Sydney. Between 1946 and 1947, Mayes was the Chair of the Australian Reference Committee, RCOG. Between 1956 and 1959, Mayes was President of the Australian Regional Council, RCOG.

An oval shaped medallion is hanging from a short blue ribbon around the man's neck. The man has short grey hair and is facing the camera, in front of a black background. Photograph is mounted in a card frame. Brass plaque attached to mount is engraved with the text 'DR. B.T.MAYES/Chairman/AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL COUNCIL, RCOG/1956-1960'.
