Historical information
These wooden clothes pegs of unknown manufacture were used to hang wet washing on a clothesline. They were also known as 'dolly pegs' because they were used as toy dolls by children. This type of peg was in use in the first half of the 20th century and earlier but was then gradually replaced by wooden spring pegs and plastic spring pegs.
