This book is a soft green linen-covered textbook published by Whitcombe & Tombs Limited, widely used in Australian Government Schools for Grades VII and VIII in the early 1900's. It was the last of a series focusing on grammar and composition skills. The front cover has the title, series and full publishing details printed in black lettering enclosed within a black lined outline. There is a black outlined symbol in the middle.The price 1/3 is printed in the bottom right hand corner. The student's name is handwritten in black ink on the inside left of the front cover at the top. Full details are printed on the title page. Inside there is a list of the Austral GRAMMARS series, an Introduction by Alfred Fussell, a list of The Federal Arithmetics books, Contents, followed by comprehensive examples and explanations of the lessons. At the back are advertisements for The Struggle for Freedom and The Australian Citizen and The Southern Cross Public Schools Atlas for Australasian Schools. Pp. 184

The student's name is handwritten in black ink on the inside left of the front cover at the top. 'L Kolling Wandin Nth Victoria'. Two number '8's' are handwritten in ink in the middle. Inside the back cover are workings of long division sums written in black ink.
