Arthur Robert Wanke was the son of Immanuel and Bertha (Aurisch) Wanke. He was born in 1888. He served with the 39th Battalion's D Company in the Great War. His Last Will and Testament was written at No. 7 Camp, Lark Hill, England on 22 October 1916. In it he bequeathed the whole of his estate to his sisters to be shared equally and his brother Oscar as executor.
Fellow Narre Warren soldiers Alfred H. Brown and Herbert D. Battersby were witnesses.

Inscriptions & markings

YMCA brown envelope has "Will of Arthur Robert Wanke" underlined and a further notation "Dated 22nd Oct 1916. Opened Aug 8 1956, the day of Arthur's burial"
