Part of a wooden oar that was broken during an international dory race at Huntington Beach California USA in 1971. A dory is a small flat-bottomed wooden boat with high sides that was used during ocean rescues. Dory racing pits two-person crews against each other to test their strength, endurance, and lifesaving skills.
