BOROUGH OF RINGWOOD, Town Hall, RINGWOOD
MINUTES of the meeting of sub‑committee appointed to meet representatives from Tintern Girls Church of England School held at the Town Hall on Tuesday May 9th at 8 p.m. 1950.
PRESENT – Councillors Purser, McCaskill and Hall, and Messrs Stuart and Daniel from the School Committee.
Mr. Stuart gave an outline of the proposed opening ceremony on June 10th at which they expected approximately 150 official guests. His Excellency the Governor had consented to open the school. Official guests include the Minister of Education, and Members of Parliament, the Mayor and Councillors of Ringwood, leading Church dignitaries including Archbishop Booth, and prominent business men.
Formal introduction to the Governor will take place about 2.50 p.m. after which a programme will be opened with hymn and prayer to be followed with opening ceremony by the Governor and inspection of school and grounds.
The School Council has requested that route along Knaith Road and Alexander Road should be cleaned up and a few loads of gravel or screenings placed in pot holes and newly graded section at junction of Victoria and Knaith Road.
The Council has a quantity of dirty screenings which were taken up from Wonga Park Road and it is recommended that they be used for this purpose.
