Historical information

The two Bass Strait ferries mentioned on the tag are M.V Empress of Australia and M.V. Princess of Tasmania. While the Princess of Tasmania was used exclusively on the Melbourne to Devonport, Tasmania run the Empress of Australia usually sailed between Sydney & Bell Bay in Northern Tasmania. Both were roll on - roll off vessels capable of carrying both passengers & vehicles.

Physical description

Australian National Line (ANL) oval tag with string for attaching it to passengers' luggage. The the tag is black, white, red with the name & logo for 'Searoad'. There is space for the name and berth number of the passenger and on the reverse side 'Do you need this case in your cabin? If not please deposit in BAGGAGE VAN at terminal'.
