These Department of Defence Minutes discuss the acquiring of photo Litho equipment for the Australian Survey Corps. It discusses the equipment and personnel needed to man a Photo Litho Section. The document is signed by TA Vance OC Australian Survey Corps and is dated 5 Feb 1940. LtCol Vance served in the Corps from 13 Jul 1915 till 9 June 1942. The next page discusses the costs involved. The last page describes a report on training abroad written by Lieut WM Sarll (Bill) who went on to be the first OC Land Headquarters Cartographic Coy when it moved to Fortuna Bendigo in 1942. This lithographic and printing capacity was to be absolutely vital for the role and support that LHQ Cartographic Coy would provide during WWII.
