This building was originally constructed around 1855 and was known as the Clarendon hotel. It also has been owned and occupied by medical practitioners, including Dr John Wilkins who in 1852 was appointed as Williamstown District Surgeon. The building is registered within the Hobsons Bay Heritage Study Amended 2017 - Volume 3 and has Heritage Overlay No. HO227.
