These five b/w photographs relate to the construction of the new route of the Princes Highway (A1) constructed in the 1970s at Orbost. This was a major construction project, with a totally new alignment of the highway which resulted in the by-pass of Orbost. It was completed c.1975.
Significance
These five photographs are significant because they show aspects of the methods of construction of major earthworks associated with the Orbost by-pass in the 1970s. They were most likely taken by a person involved with this project.
