Historical information
Marlo is a settlement near the mouth of the Snowy River near Orbost. Before the railway was completed to Orbost in 1916, and roads were later improved, Marlo was the main entry-point for ships travelling the coastal route from Melbourne to Orbost. Marlo developed as a small port with a jetty. It also developed as a holiday destination with the Hotel and at least one guest-house.
Significance
