Physical description

Frank Henry WADDS (Service no: W434) was born in Williamstown on 9 July 1905 and enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 13 September 1939.
He served on board the HMAS Goorangai which was a 223-ton auxiliary minesweeper. On the night of the 20 November 1940, the HMAS Goorangai was crossing the mouth of Port Phillip Bay to anchor at Portsea, when it collided with the MV Duntroon. The HMAS Goorangai was cut into two and sank within a minute. Only six bodies were recovered and Frank Wadds had drowned aged 35 years.
