Historical information

In 1935 it was recommended to the Commonwealth Government that a Commonwealth Survey Committee be formed to coordinate mapping activities between all the mapping organisations including the State Lands Departments and the Commonwealth Mapping organisations. It was proposed that the chairman being the Surveyor General and comprising representatives of the three Armed Services.
