Although associated with many Islamic cultures, in the United States it is also worn with people of West African heritage, whether Christian, Islamic or a traditional African religion.

Brimless maroon velvet cap hand embellished with cream and bronze coloured beads, floral and round shaped paillettes creating four motifs.
Gold-coloured floral trim around brim edge.
