Men's braided pocket watch cord made from human hair with gold fastenings. The cord is a piece of mourning jewellery, created using the hair of Emma Johanna Auguste Ziebell following her death at the age of 19. Such items were commonly made in the nineteenth century as personal memorials to deceased family members and were worn or carried as keepsakes.
