Artwork, other - Painting, c. 1830-1850

Historical information

This painting is understood to have been displayed within the Ziebell family home for much of the 20th century. According to Paul Schultz, one of the prints hung above the piano in the dining room during his childhood. His uncle, Francis Adams, who was raised in the house and born in the 1930s, recalled that the prints had been present for as long as he could remember, suggesting a long-standing association with the domestic interior of the farmhouse.

The painting was re-framed approximately eight years ago, with the intention that they be returned to Ziebell’s Farmhouse Museum for display. Their reinstatement within the museum reflects a shared recognition among descendants of their historical and familial significance, and their role in evoking the lived experience of the house across generations.
