Historical information

Small children's birthday book containing calendar months with corresponding poems and space to record birthdays. Originally owned by Janet Hubbard's grandmother, the book was later passed to Janet, who added her own handwritten birthday entries during childhood. The shop the book was purchased from, Buxton's Artists' Colormen Artistic Stationery Company operated opposite Melbourne Town Hall in the 1880s and 1890s. It was one of Melbourne's best-known suppliers of artists' materials, stationery, prints and picture frames.
