Historical information

Mont Albert State School was officially opened on 23rd April 1917. It became Mont Albert Central School in 1918, taking in Forms 1 and 2. The school remained a Central School until 1964, when the secondary years formed the basis of a new High School, the Box Hill North High School, later to be named Koonung Secondary College.
One of the donors advised that Robert Leslie Featherston was this class' teacher in 1954. He was about 36 years of age and taught at this school from 1953-1954.

Physical description

A black & white class photo identified on a board at the front of the group as Form 1F, Mont Albert Central School, 1954. It is a large class with all the students wearing uniform, although 3 boys appear to have a slightly different version with a dark shirt rather than a jumper or blazer. There are 17 boys and 26 girls.
