Historical information

One of the donors advised that her father-in-law Robert Leslie Featherston was the teacher of Class 1F at Mont Albert Central School in 1954. He was about 36 years of age and taught at this school from 1953-1954. He taught in a number of Victorian schools after returning from WW2, having been captured and held as a POW in a camp in Poland for over 2 years. He subsequently left Education and joined the Migration department, where he worked until he retired. He died in 1992.

Physical description

A black & white class photo identified on a board at the front of the group as Form 1F, Mont Albert Central School, 1954. It is a large class with all the students wearing uniform, although 3 boys appear to have a slightly different version with a dark shirt rather than a jumper or blazer. There are 17 boys and 26 girls.
