Historical information
Women's white cotton bloomers featuring a drawstring waist and loose-fitting legs. The bloomers are decorated with bands of lace insertion and lace edging at the hem. Such garments were worn as undergarments beneath dresses and skirts, providing comfort and modesty in everyday wear.
Significance
The bloomers are believed to have originally been owned and possibly made by Annie Ziebell (née Robertson) (1872–1953), wife of Henry Ziebell. The estimated date of the garment corresponds with the period in which Annie lived and raised her family at Westgarthtown.
