Historical information

Louisa Mann was appointed Matron of the Alfred Hospital Melbourne in June 1912 at the age of 45. Miss Mann had trained at the Melbourne Hospital, graduating in 1903. Miss Mann had been the second choice when Laura Pratt was appointed matron in March 1912. When Miss Pratt resigned due to ill health two months later, the position of matron was offered to Miss Mann. Louisa Mann remained Matron of The Alfred until her death in 1928

Black print on cream paper. Rules 8, 12, & 16 have been crossed out. There is a question mark beside Rule 16 At the base 'I agree to conform to the above Rules + also to/ the General Rules of the Hospital' / L Mann, The name L C Pratt has been crossed out [ all handwritten in black ink]. The previous catalogue number has been handwritten [black inK] at top right. Handwritten on the back 'Miss Mann' [pencil] 'signed rules" [black ink] and 'Miss Pratt' crossed out [black ink]
