Physical description

Small pocket-sized copy of The Book of Common Prayer bound in black leather or leatherette with an embossed cross to the front cover and red page edges. Published by Eyre & Spottiswoode (Publishers) Ltd., London, the volume contains The Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church According to the Use of the Church of England, together with the Psalter or Psalms of David and forms for ordaining and consecrating bishops, priests and deacons. The inside front page bears the handwritten inscription: "Gladys Kendrick, All Saints Church of England, Preston, 1st Prize, 1935-40" indicating that the book was awarded as a church prize.
