Historical information

Tidy Towns is a national award celebrating community led environmental action in rural and regional Australia. It is an initiative run by Keep Australia Beautiful that celebrated grassroots, community-led environmental action and sustainability. It originally focused on basic litter reduction and civic pride. It commenced in since 1968 and continues today in 2026 with a wider focus including eg. economic sustainability.

Significance

Mt Beauty is a small town with an active community who cared for the environment.
