Historical information

The Bogong Hotel on the Kiewa Valley Highway opposite the corner of Ryders Lane in Tawonga brgan in 1895. This photo was taken in the late 1940s early 1950s. The hotel was 150 years old when it was burnt down in December 2011.

Significance

The Bogong Hotel was the 'local' for the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme workers. The workers would walk there and back from their camps.
