Parasol shaped needlecases were popular during 19th century often as souvenirs. Stanhope view is missing so can't know where this one might have represented. More souvenir than functional crochet hook.
Significance
Parasols were fashion accessories of 1860's and their shape was adopted as a convenient needle holder - creating a popular souvenirs and gifts.
Physical description
Parasol shaped needle case and crochet hook. Bone handle with purple umbrella. Hole in handle for stanhope lens (missing). Handle unscrews to open needle case within the umbrella.
