Physical description
Private Ernest Albert BURANDT, Service No: VX17846 was born in Newport on 11 July 1919 and enlisted in the Australian Army on 27 May 1940.
He served in the 105 General Transport Company, Workshops Platoon; 1st Australian Corps Petrol Park, and served in Benghazi, Greece and Syria and became a POW in Java.
During 1944, he became a POW in Java and passed away (drowned) at sea near Nagasaki, East China Sea, Pacific Ocean, on 24 Jun 1944, aged 24 years
