1. The Sons of Sailors and Soldiers League of Australia (SSL) was first formed in Adelaide, South Australia in November 1931 as a junior branch of the Returned Soldiers League, later expanded to states including Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Physical description
1. Son's of Sailors and Soldiers League of Australia lapel badge. Badge- gilded brass and enamel. Surrounded by a King's Crown with gold letters "SSL" on red coloured background surrounded by a white band containing lettering 'SONS OF SAILORS AND SOLDIERS'. The band is surrounded by a blue coloured enamelled laurel wreath. Below are red coloured ribbons with words "LEAGUE OF AUSTRALIA" on reverse pair of lugs and pins, and impressed numbers and markings (see below).
2. Chief Petty Officers HMAS Cerberus lapel badge. Badge - gilded brass and enamel. Centre, white coloured enamel background with gold coloured naval anchor, surrounded by blue coloured band with gold coloured words "CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS" below "HMAS CERBERUS" on red background. framed by gold toned wreath. Reverse - pin attachment and impressed number.
