This photograph depicts the operation of a punt across the Snowy River following a flood. Most likely, this relates to the effects of the 1934 flood which did significant damage to the road bridge across the Snowy River. This resulted in the installation of a punt which carried people, vehicles and stock across the River until the bridge could be repaired. Refer also to photograph 2737.

Physical description

A b/w photograph showing a large expanse of river water, with a punt carrying several men and a vehicle. The punt is near a bank of the river and is attached to the river bank by several lines of cable or rope. The vehicle on the punt is c.1920s model car.
