Historical information

John McIntyre (1832 -- 1904) born in Glasgow, Scotland and arrived in Australia in 1852 in the search for gold. As a miner he was involved in the Red Ribbon protests and was a digger until 1855 when he married Jeannie Grant (1836 - 1861) and began working as a chemist at View Point.
John McIntyre was elected Chairman of the Borough of Sandhurst and then Mayor, serving from 1863 - 1868.
He remarried his first wife's sister Isabella (1831 - 1902) in 1875 and from 1877 - 1880 served as the local member of Parliament.
