Historical information

During World War I, members of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) were routinely issued a small, khaki-covered pocket New Testament as a gift from auxiliary groups like the Melbourne auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society and local churches. 
The miniature books were printed on thin India paper with robust bindings and distinct khaki covers designed to fit easily into a soldier's tunic breast pocket, they typically featured cloth, leatherette, or pictorial cardboard covers.

Physical description

A miniature khaki leatherette covered New Testament of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ with the title stamped in black lettering at the top of the front cover. The edges of the pages are red. Inside the front cover is a sticker of Presentation. Pp. 462.

On the left front end paper is a sticker - 'Presented by The British & Foreign Bible Society Victoria To the members of the Victorian Contingent of - the - Australian Imperial Force volunteering for Service in the Defence of the British Empire.
