Inscriptions & markings

Hand-coloured engraving on cream paper. The image depicts the facade of the Melbourne Athenaeum, in the bottom of the image, there are two horse and carriages, and several pedestrians walking towards the entrance of the building. The page is framed with a gold border. Below the bottom of the frame is the following text "THE NEW BUILDING FOR THE MELBOURNE ATHENAEUM - see page 233."

The reverse of the page is printed with black text. The page has been extracted from the Illustrated Australian News.
