This item was donated to RANZCOG's historical collection by Dr Ian Cope. In 1958, Dr Cope moved into rooms at 233 Macquarie Street, Sydney, which had previously been occupied by Dr Dame Constance D'arcy. He subsequently donated much of the material which remained in those rooms to the College.

Physical description

Metal tin containing two scalpels. Sticking plaster attached to the top of the tin carries handwriting which reads 'Dr D'ARCY'. Allen and Hanburys branding is visible on the lid of the tin adjacent to the sticking plaster. The first scalpel is engraved with two manufacturer's marks reading 'J.GRAY & SON/SHEFFIELD' and 'R. THOMSON/& CO/SYDNEY'. The second scalpel is engraved on one side with a manufacturer's mark reading 'ALLEN &/HANBURYS LTD/LONDON', and is engraved on the other side with the number '5' and the letters 'MB'.
