Historical information
These photographs were part of the collection originally owned by Frederick Harcourt VX18344, detailing the personnel and working conditions of the 2nd/2nd Field Workshops during the desert campaign in 1940-41. Harcourt was himself a member of the unit. This set is of commercial images showing the notable features of the various locations members of the unit may have spent leave.
The job of the field workshops was to repair and maintain equipment in the field. This set features the photographic envelopes from local services, providing an insight about how the original photographs were produced.
