Historical information

Shows approximate location of pastoral runs, which were established in 1847. Run holders were allowed to purchase 160 acres of land at one Australin pound per acre. This was known as preemptive right (Helen Coulson). This map shows the boundaries of the various runs, the boundaries of Ferntree Gully Shire, and the approximate location of pastoral runs in relation to later existing townships.
