Historical information

Mrs Aeneas (Jeannie) Gunn, author of "We of the Never Never" and "The Little Black Princess", lived in Monbulk in the early 1900s after the death of her husband and her return from the Northern Territory. She was associated with the Sunnyside Group of writers at Sassafras, which included C.J. Dennis. She became closely involved with the Monbulk community and is remembered especially for her work with ex-servicemen from World War 1.
