Historical information

The bag has had a renovation at some stage with new internal straps and a new internal label. There is a luggage label inside with 'T J Madigan Emerald' inscribed which suggests that Jim Madigan may have used it and that he was a subsequent owner of the bag.

Significance

According to the label, this is a bag presented to William Durance (presumably a local resident) by Cockatoo Creek residents after returning from World War 1. There is nothing further known about William Durance.
