This flag was produced in 2000 as part of the centenary of Australian Federation celebrations.

Significance

This flag is a replica of the original Australian Federation Flag which was the chief symbol of the political movement in the 1880s and 1890s towards federation of the Australian colonies. The flag originated in the 1830s as the proposed NSW Ensign.
It was so popular that it was still to be seen in the late 1920s.
The Federation Flag was used as part of the celebrations for the centenary of Australian Federation in 2001.

Physical description

Australian Federation Flag (also known as the Australian Ensign) - the chief symbol of the Federation movement in the late 19th century. A blue cross with five white stars on a white background and the Union Jack in the top left-hand corner.
