Historical information

Many of he pictures in the book were taken by George G Murray in the 1900 – 1920 era, showing the extent extent of clearing undertaken by selectors in the 1890s. There is also a large number of “Rose” Postcard images and Howard Ham's extensive collection of photos from the 1890s.

Significance

The book is historically, socially and scientifically significant as it gives insight into changes to the environment and social structures of the local and wider areas from the 1890s to 2014
