Significance
This pouring bottle was used for pouring ink into smaller ink wells. This would have been used in multiple situations where writing with a pen and ink was required. The bottle has obvious imperfections so it may have been hand-made. It has been difficult for the cataloguer to date it or confirm its manufacture.
Physical description
Small brown stoneware pouring ink bottle. Possibly used for pouring ink into small ink wells. Has the words 'Epsom Bendigo' imprinted.
Inscriptions & markings
At the bottom of the bottle is an oval shape which encloses the words 'Epsom' and on the next line, 'Bendigo'.
There is illegible print above the word 'Epsom".
Near the top of the bottle is a number '7' - but it is possible this is not a number but a production imperfection.
