Grindley crockery was made in England and the local Melbourne supplier to was Loftus Moran Pty. Ltd. Loftus Moran supplied to many hotels, guest houses and Victorian Railways.

Significance

This distinctive crockery was used in the dining room at the Emerald Country Club, the local golf course, in the 1960s.

Physical description

Dining room crockery from the Emerald Country Club consisting of 4 saucers, 1 small bowl, 3 small dinner plates, 1 salt and pepper shaker. Donated by Dick and Alice Porter who managed the Club in the 1960s.The crockery is a honey ivory glaze with a decoration around the rim.

Inscriptions & markings

All crockery is honey ivory with a decoration around the rim of blue-grey, tan and red-brown colour. Underneath each piece is the inscription: 'Duraline / Super Vitrified Honey Glaze / Ivory / Grindley Hotel Ware Co., England / Lotfus Moran'
Note: oval bowl and shaker do not have 'Loftus Moran'
All crockery except shaker have a date of manufacture at the bottom.
The saucers are 1-60 (i.e. Jan 1960), 10-64, 10-64, and 9-64.
The date on the small bowl is 8-65.
The date on the three plates is 7-63.
The date on the oval bowl is 6-67.
The shaker has no date.
